I don't know if you know this about me but I grew up a very picky eater. I used to be the kid and then the adult that picked on every single piece of vegetable in the food before eating it. I picked on some of them because of flavor for example broccoli and cauliflower. Others like tomato, onions, and peppers was because of texture.
It was kind of embarrassing when I had to go to work dinners but at the same time if I didn't like it I was not going to eat it. It wasn't until I met my husband that I started making vegetables part of my daily meals.
